SMEStory has an interview of Vishwas Mahajan, founder and CEO Compulink, a Pune-based product company that has a couple of interesting SaaS products. Vishwas is also quite active in the tech and startup community in Pune, being a charter member of TiePune.
Excerpts:
A big turning point came for us when we launched our hire-by-net service in 2000. It was a web based recruitment product and we had our complete trust in it. We went out of the way to market it and we even participated at a trade event in Las Vegas. Although it was a huge risk considering the marketing costs involved, it paid off. We got a contract from interviewonline.com and it even gave us an advance of USD 100,000, which kept us afloat.
In the subsequent year, we launched Project By Net, a web based project management product. We laid special emphasis on marketing of the product again and even rebranded it as Whizible. The move worked and contributed 70% to our top-line.
