COEP’s Bhau Institute to encourage student-entrepreneurs to solve social problems

The Bhau Institute of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Leadership, setup in COEP by alumni (including Narendra Kale of Kale Consultants) runs an yearly program called Ignited Innovators of India (I2I) where students are encouraged to come up with innovative ideas for dealing with small social problems they see everyday. Selected programs are given funding by the institute. The process this year starts on 20th September reports the [Indian Express][bloglink].

Excerpts:

n the first edition of the initiative, 900 applications were received out of which 400 were shortlisted. Out of that, about 103 projects were implemented.

“The best part about this initiative is that it pulls the students out of the four walls of the classroom, takes them on to the streets where they can identify social problems and take up the responsibility to come up with innovative solutions for them.”
